Petition: End animal experimentation in NSW

Millions of animals including primates, cats, dogs, mice, guinea pigs, rabbits, birds, fish, reptiles farmed and native animals, are subjected to horrific experiments across Australia every year.

Up to 96% of drugs tested ‘successfully’ on animals fail when they are translated to humans. With a range of new cruelty-free technologies producing far more valuable outcomes, animal experimentation is not only cruel but it is unnecessary.

That is why I am calling for both the NSW Government and the Shadow Minister for Health Ryan Park MP, to urgently investigate the use of animals in experimentation here in our state and fund humane research alternatives.

New experimental methods are now producing more dependable and accurate results than research conducted on non-human animals. These include:

  • Computer-based methods
  • Algorithmic testing
  • Simulators based on virtual reality or physical models
  • In-vitro testing/stem cell testing

By signing the petition below, you’ll be telling both the NSW Government and the Shadow Minister for Health Ryan Park MP, to urgently fund these humane research alternatives and investigate the true extent of the use of animals in experimentation here in our state.
