730’s explosive story on the Australian horse racing industry showed the brutal truth behind the glitz and glamour of the spring races. 

But not only are racehorses being slaughtered at Australian abattoirs in their thousands, but they are subjected to a lifetime of extreme physical and mental suffering. From being forced to race at a dangerously young age, to being forced to endure whipping and tongue tying, racehorses suffer from birth to death.

Horses are innocent, intelligent and sentient animals. The horse racing industry, who thrive on the greedy pursuit of profit, must be held to account. The Australian racing industry must be exposed as what it is. A brutal business built on the suffering of thousands of animals. It can no longer be glamorised by a rich and callous minority who profit on horses quite literally running for their lives.

The Government must launch an immediate investigation into racehorse cruelty here in NSW. I have already moved a notice of motion in the NSW Parliament Upper House, and am demanding an immediate investigation into the racing industry.
