Ensuring Strong Penalties for the Sexual Abuse of Animals
Ensuring strong penalties for the sexual abuse of animalsA Government Bill debated yesterday could have seen sexual abuse of an animal (bestiality) be treated as a summary offence which would reduce the maximum penalty from 14 years imprisonment to just 2 years. After the AJP raised our concerns with the Government, this amendment was removed and the offence now remains with a maximum penalty of 14 years. Sexual abuse of an animal is always wrong, and is often accompanied by death and pain for the animal. Thatβs why we worked with the NSW Government to ensure this change wasn't made. With your help, we are making sure animals are considered in every law. #nswpol #animalrights #animalprotection #EndAnimalCruelty #TougherPenalties

The NSW Government must support native animals following the bushfire crisis
NSW Upper House Condemns The Cruel Fur Industry
NSW Upper House condemns the cruel fur industryEXCITING NEWS! The Upper House just supported my motion condemning the cruel fur trade and congratulating Queen Elizabeth II for removing animal fur from her wardrobe. This is what happens when we get voices for animals in Parliament π¦π°π» Over 50 million animals suffer and die as victims of the international fur trade. This includes kangaroos, murdered right here in New South Wales and exported to regions including Europe, Asia and the United States. Animals in the fur trade are killed by anal electrocution, gassing, breaking their necks, or from being skinned alive. With the Upper House in NSW now condemning the fur trade, we can truly say the future of fashion is fur-free! Watch the video to hear the full motion that the House passed. #animalcruelty #banfur #nswpol #FurIsDead #FurFreeFuture
